"Let there be peace" is a call for peace in our world that is full of wars, famine, disasters, economic downturn, and health crises.
The song encourages leaders of the world and all people to love, accept, and live in harmony with each other to make this world a better place for us and the future generations.
Dr Ugo Onwuka (b. 1951) Ugo is a Nigerian composer and choral director, he has composed numerous works. His works have been widely performed in Nigeria and beyond the borders of Nigeria. In his long academic career, Ugo taught undergraduate music theory, composition, and performance. He holds a doctorate in ethnomusicology with research interest in how Nigerian traditional music could be harnessed for modern composition in the twenty-first century. Ugo retired in 2016 as an associate professor of ethnomusicology and is currently a visiting lecturer at Paul University, Awka, Nigeria.
Dr Ugo Onwuka wrote this composition as part of the NIHSS online orchestration program hosted by Jiwe Music (an online African Music library). The main convenor for the orchestration course was Dr Andile Khumalo. Jiwe Music is a non-profit organization seeking to preserve and make African music accessible to the African continent and beyond. It accepts contributions from all genres of music. This composition falls under the category of "Contemporary Art songs".
